Day Eight of Unbroken Prayers
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
James 4:14
Our prayers need to be big enough to focus on future generations. Your prayers should be big enough that only future generations will get to enjoy its fulfillment. Be okay with the fact that there are some prayers that you pray that you will never see realized.
In Barcelona, there is a cathedral named La Sagrada Familia that was scheduled to take 200 years to complete. Antoni Gaudi, the architect for the structure, was once asked, “Does it bother you that you won’t be alive when this building is completed?” Gaudi responded by saying, “I don’t mind. My Boss isn’t in a hurry.”
What would happen if we approached prayer with the same mentality? God’s Kingdom far outlives us. James 4:14 describes our life as just a vapor. Our lives are brief. We blink, and then it’s gone. Our prayers need to be focused on more than just what happens in our lifetime. Our prayers need to be bigger than us.
Take some time to pray some big prayers today. Pray prayers today that you won’t even see realized in your lifetime and will echo out into future generations!

Pray for wisdom and direction
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. ~ James 1:5

The Queen of the South will rise at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, and now something greater than Solomon is here. ~ Matthew 12:42
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all, you have get understanding. ~ Proverbs 4:7
But they could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke. We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. ~ 1 Corinthian 2:6
Wisdom makes one wise person more powerful than ten rulers in a city. ~ Ecclesiastes 7:19
He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. ~ Psalm 23:3
