Online Prayer Resources

Summer for Students

June + July

Introduction:

Jesus not only wants to save us but also wants us to be made whole. He wants us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. This is a radical concept, but it is precisely what Jesus demonstrated through His life and teachings.

Talking Points:

  • As Christians, we are called to follow Jesus’ example of love and forgiveness, even when it is difficult. We need to be willing to reach out to those who have rejected us and show them compassion. We must not give up on people, no matter how difficult the situation may seem.
  • Let’s not allow rejection to embitter us or cause us to retaliate. Instead, we must follow Jesus’ example and respond with love and kindness.
  • As we navigate through life, let us remember Jesus’ lesson on dealing with anger and rejection. Let us follow Jesus’ footsteps, showing love and compassion even to those who reject us.

Possible Things to Pray For:

  • Forgiveness for reacting in anger
  • Strength to respond in kindness, instead of reacting in anger
  • Healing from past events that have caused bitterness and an unforgiving heart
  • Faith to trust God for wisdom to better handle situations that cause anger
  • Discipline to guard one’s words/mouth/tongue.
  • Discernment to understand the root of one’s anger
  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit to better manifest the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faith, perseverance, and self-control

Verses to Share:

  • Ephesians 4:26-31 NIV – In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.
  • James 1:19 NAS – This you know, my beloved brethren, but everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.
  • Psalm 37:8-9 NAS – Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret; it leads only to evildoing. For evildoers will be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
  • Luke 6:31 NAS – Treat others the same way you want them to treat you.
  • Psalm 37:8 – Follow the example of the Lord, who is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy and loving-kindness.

Introduction: It’s important to understand that God often uses the ugly, unclean, and unattractive seasons of life to feed us. Those painful trials and struggles that you wish you never had to go through, God still uses those moments. The lesson that we can learn from Scripture is that you only get so far in your relationship with God when all you do is feed on the positive things in life. You will only get so far unless you learn to let the trials feed you as well.

What if I told you that the horrible divorce, the abuse you faced, or the abandonment you encountered can be viewed as God making a champion out of you? God can use the abuse to feed you, to strengthen you, and you will come out of this season greater and stronger than you could have ever imagined!

Possible Things to Pray For:
  • Desire to be free from fear
  • Strength to forgive the abuser
  • The experience of God’s peace and joy
  • Healing of their body and mind
  • Healing from past events that have caused bitterness and an unforgiving heart
Verses to Share:
  • Psalm 9:9 NIV – The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.
  • Matthew 11:28 NIV – Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
  • Romans 8:35-39 NIV – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Philippians 4:13 NIV – I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
  • Psalm 147:3 – He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
  • Psalm 103:6 – The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly.

Introduction: We all have areas of our lives that feel unproductive, stagnant, or even toxic. Whether it’s a struggling relationship, a dead-end job, or a battle with addiction, we all face challenges that can drain us of our energy, hope, and joy.

But God has the power to heal and transform even the most difficult areas of our lives. In fact, healing is not just a nice idea; it is the will of God for His people. Of course, the process of healing is not always easy or straightforward. We must be willing to take steps towards our own healing. This may include seeking professional help, setting boundaries in relationships, or making changes in our daily habits and routines.

But no matter what steps we take, we can trust that God is with us every step of the way. As Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Possible Things to Pray For:
  • Repentance for behaviors and attitudes that are not healthy.
  • Freedom and healing from the physical and mental pull of addiction cravings and withdrawal.
  • Holy Spirit support to resist the addiction.
  • Courage to make life changes that support a drug/alcohol-free life.
  • Wisdom to make good choices that help overcome the addiction.
  • A strong support system for accountability and help.
Verses to Share:
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13-14 NIV – No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
  • James 4:7 NIV – Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  • Psalm 50:15 NIV – …and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.
  • Philippians 4:13 NIV – I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength.

    • Isaiah 41:10 NIV – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
    • 1 Timothy 1:12 NIV – I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him
    • Isaiah 40:29-31 NLT – He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. Introduction:

We often hear people talking about “finding their calling” or “discovering their purpose in life.” Many people believe that they were put on this earth for a specific reason, and they spend their lives searching for that one thing that will give them meaning and fulfillment. But what if your anointing is not necessarily a specific job or career path?

    Talking Points:

    • Anointing, in its simplest form, means to be set apart for a specific purpose or task. It is the supernatural ability that God gives us to carry out the work He has called us to do. The important thing to remember is that whatever you do, you should do it with excellence and with the anointing of God.
    • You have a unique set of skills and talents that God has given you. When you go to work, whether it’s a traditional job or something else, remember that it’s not just a job – it’s your anointing.
    • We must strive to live our lives with the anointing of God. We should seek His guidance and direction in all we do,
    • Go forth with excellence and confidence, knowing you are fulfilling your anointing and serving the Kingdom of God.

    Possible Things to Pray For:

    • Faith to trust God for wisdom to know the path forward in His perfect will.
    • Special wisdom for the Holy Spirit to lead you into your anointing and gifts.
    • Energy and a sense of peace in the job search.
    • Favor with potential employers.
    • Strength to respond in kindness, instead of reacting in anger.
    • Healing from events that have caused bitterness and an unforgiving heart.
    • Discipline to guard one’s words/mouth/tongue.
    • Patience to allow employers to work through decisions and respond fairly.

    Verses to Share:

    • Ecclesiastes 3:11 NLT – Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
    • Isaiah 43:18-19 NLT – But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
    • Philippians 4:6-7 NLT – Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

    Introduction:

It can be easy to overlook the power of spiritual warfare. Many of us go about our daily lives without considering the bigger picture of what’s going on around us. But the truth is that there is a battle taking place between the forces of light and darkness, and our actions and choices play a significant role in that battle.

     Talking Points:

    • Hell sees us differently than we see ourselves.Hell sees us as mighty warriors in the battle for souls. When we gather for church, or participate in prayer and fasting, or engage in small group discussions, we may see these activities as simply “routine” or “mundane”. But to the kingdom of darkness, they are powerful weapons in the hands of God.
    • When David faced Goliath, everyone else saw a shepherd boy who was no match for the giant. But David stepped up and said, “I may not be much, but I come at you in the name of the Lord.” And what lookedinsignificant to most people, became the sword that cut off Goliath’s head.
    • We must never underestimate the power of spiritual warfare. The forces of darkness are always at work, seeking to deceive, destroy, and lead us astray. But when we put our trust in God and engage in the battles, He calls us to fight, we become mighty warriors in His army. Let’s embrace that identity and fight the good fight, knowing that we have already been given the victory through Christ!

    Possible Things to Pray For:

    • Wisdom and discernment so as not to be caught off guard by evil forces.
    • Courage and strength to stand firm under pressure from attacks.
    • Holy Spirit protection from evil and spiritual intelligence to defeat the devil and his demons.

    Verses to Share:

    • 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (AMP) – Though I walk (live) in the flesh, I am not carrying on my warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of my warfare are not physical, but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds.
    • Ephesians 6:11 (AMP) – I will put on God’s whole armor that I may be able successfully to stand up against all the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
    • Isaiah 40:29 (AMP) – He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength causing it to multiply and making it to abound.

    Introduction:

God’s love is the reason we exist. It is the “why” of creation. He loved you and knew your name before time began (Jeremiah 1:5). Understand this because it is so important.

    Talking Points:

    • You’re deeply loved by God.
    • His love was so awesome that He laid down His life on the cross for you forgiving all of your sins through his amazing grace and mercy. As God’s people, we must master God’s love in our lives. God’s love has been made perfect in you, and He commands you to love.
    • Jesus said that the world would know that we are His by our love (John 13:35). The Bible goes to the extreme to say that without love we are nothing but an annoying sound (1 Corinthians 13:1… ouch).

    Possible Things to Pray For:

    • Improved attitude and heart-change when situations can be frustrating or overwhelming.
    • Healing from past events that have caused bitterness and an unforgiving heart.
    • Surrender and silence of strongholds that are hindering forgiveness.
    • God’s peace and joy.
    • Repentance for unforgiveness and the distance that it creates between them and God.
    • Grace from Heaven and strength from the Holy Spirit to forgive others, just as we have been forgiven by Jesus.

    Verses to Share:

    • 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV – Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
    • Luke 17:3-4 NIV – So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
    • Matthew 6:14 AMP – If I forgive people their trespasses [their reckless and willful sins, leaving them, letting them go, and giving up resentment], my heavenly Father will also forgive me.
    • Mark 11:25-26 AMP – And whenever I stand praying, if I have anything against anyone, I forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that my Father Who is in Heaven may also forgive me my [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop. But if I do not forgive, neither will my Father in Heaven forgive my failings and shortcomings.

    Introduction:

The Bible tells us that God is near to both the righteous and the wicked, and that He can reach anyone, no matter how good or bad they may seem. It’s not about our own righteousness, but about God’s love and compassion for us.

    Talking Points:

    • We need to remember that no matter where we are in life, whether we are doing well or struggling, we should never stop praying for others and never give up hope.
    • God’s love and compassion are powerful enough to reach even those who seem too far gone, and it’s up to us to trust Him and to keep praying for them. Let’s put our full trust in Him! God’s love knows no bounds, and He is able to reach anyone, no matter how impossible it may seem.
    • We need to be the ones that will keep praying and believing for them when they can’t do so for themselves.

    Possible Things to Pray For:

    • God’s peace despite the circumstances around us.
    • Faith and Trust that God’s way is perfect.  He Has a plan to save those who don’t yet know Him.
    • Confidence that God is doing a good work in your life and in the life of you family.
    • Holy Spirit guidance on how best to model the love of Jesus to your family.

    Verses to Share:

    • Acts 20:32 AMP – I commit my family to God [I deposit them in His charge, entrusting them to His protection and care]. And I commend them to the Word of His grace [to the commands and counsels and promises of His unmerited favor].  It is able to build my family up and give us [our rightful] inheritance among all God’s set-apart ones (those consecrated, purified, and transformed of soul).
    • Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV – Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
    • Luke 15:4b-6 NIV – Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home.
    • Psalm 27:14 AMP – I wait and hope for and expect the Lord; I am brave and of good courage and let my heart be strong and enduring. Yes, I wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.
